The Secret to Consistent Social Media Content

One of the most common questions I get is always from people wondering how I post to social media every day.

You don’t have to post every day — in fact, many businesses can do just fine with posting three or four days a week. But for my business, and for the businesses I work with, the goal is always daily content.

Are you looking to learn more about how to be consistent with your social media presence? Keep reading to learn more!

Why Post Daily?

Nothing helps build trust in yourself and with your clients like making a goal and sticking to it. Posting every day helps to cement your social media presence as an important habit in your life, and it lets your followers see your face and hear your voice. Every. Single. Day.

Becoming a constant in your followers lives is a great way to help turn followers into leads and eventually into paying customers.

Let Go Of Your Perfectionism

Here’s the thing — you aren’t going to be perfect. Perfectionism held me back from posting every day for way too long.

Failure is a part of building a habit. And that’s what this consistency really is — habit building.

Build Habits That Last

If you try to develop 20 new habits all at once, you are done before you’ve even started. Pick one thing you want to start doing every day, and once you have that down, add more habits.

With social media, stick to something easy to start. Maybe you want to focus on your Instagram story by posting one selfie everyday, or asking your followers one question everyday.

By starting small, you can build up your confidence more easily and eventually build systems for a more extensive online presence.

Plan Ahead So You Know What To Expect

Even if you aren’t somebody who wants to make all of their content for the month all at once, you should at least be planning ahead.

Start by planning out your social media one week in advance, and then grow until you are planning out every month ahead of time. This will help you to see what is expected of you every day, and it’ll give you something concrete to look at.

You Have To Do The Thing

Here’s the thing — all the planning in the world is useless if you don’t actually follow through with the plan.

Start building habits that don’t have anything to do with social media. Write down “brush your teeth” or “drink a glass of water” on your to-do list. Don’t put anything else on the list.

Odds are, you were going to do these things when you woke up in the morning, but by putting them on your list and crossing them off when they were completed, you are teaching yourself that you are somebody who does what they say they were going to do.

Keep adding habits to your to-do list to build this trust with yourself until you feel ready to start adding work-related tasks (like social media!) to the list.
